For breakfast it was perfect. Lovely welcoming staff, coffee and bread/cheese was yummy and cheap. For a cafe in Midelt, this is the place to go!

My girlfriend and I were in town for the night on a trip through Morocco in January. Midelt was a stopover and we had few to no plans there beyond a place to stay and a next destination. We first crossed the place when looking for our Airbnb and within minutes of looking lost had 2 locals using their phones to call around and figure out where we should end up. We also (being irresponsible travelers) only speak english and spanish and had to navigate the language barrier. But locals used the english they had, called friends with better english, etc. all to help strangers. The first good sign about Cafe Caribou. The next morning we needed a place to eat and after we walked by the sleepy cafe at about 8am, went to a corner store to pick up snacks assuming we were out of luck for breakfast. The shop owner was nice enough to recommend the cafe down the street and when we said it looked closed, he gave us an incredulous look, whipped out his cell phone and called the owner. Turns out we were mistaken and he urged us back there. We walked in to a cafe devoid of any activity at the moment except staff and began the charades game of trying to convey we needed breakfast, again wrestling with our own shortcomings in the local languages of French and Arabic (and I'm sure others.) We eventually came to possibly an understanding that we were hungry though we were shown no menu and simply urged to grab a seat. And then, a minute later the shop owner leaves us in the cafe and is out the door. We were left with the news in Arabic on TV and general uncertainty. Shame on us for doubting the place! He came back a few minutes later with a bag of groceries and some bread. Another few minutes later we were served one of the most pleasant, tasty and enjoyable breakfasts we had in Morocco. Was all this review necessary? Usually not as my girlfriend likes to point out. But jeeze! What a great experience. So nice. So helpful. Great cook. Great coffee. Locals humored us when they tried to engage and we couldn't. I'd eat there every day if given more chances. Stop reading, start eating. Couldn't have enjoyed it more.
